A Measure of Health and Social Care

Are you aged 19 or over, and interested in exploring a range of Health and Social Care topics?

This November, the North West Regional College will be offering *10 funded places at each of our college campuses at Strand Road, Strabane, and Limavady, to take part in a 4-week bootcamp focusing on 4 different aspects of Health and Social Care.

*Eligibility criteria will be applied at application stage

Why attend?

The Measure of Health and Social Care bootcamp will provide you awareness and insight into several aspects of health and social care, that may support you (or someone you care for) to manage a health condition at home. This programme will also offer a taster of Health and Social Care, as a subject for future study, and/or career aspirations. If you are eligible to participate, you can choose to take part in any of the following themed bootcamps:

Theme 1: Heart Health

Topics that will be explored include – blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation, breathing rate, pulse rate.

Theme 2: Health Literacy

Topics that will be explored include – medication awareness, understanding routine test results, and planning for medical appointments.

Theme 3: Diet and Nutrition

Topics that will be explored include – nutrition, glucose monitoring, dysphagia awareness, and body mass index.

Theme 4: Skin Health

Topics that will be explored include – skin cancer awareness, infection prevention, and skin integrity.

Note –After completing the online form, you will be contacted by the Project Coordinator to ensure that you are eligible to take part in the programme.

The Measure of Health and Social Care project has received £24,260 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This is part of a £5.9m Multiply fund being managed by the Department for the Economy in the north of Ireland.
