This course will aid students to understand the importance and role of infant mental health on lifelong development. The course will cover the following learning outcomes;LO1 Understand the nature/ nurture debate and factors that impact on infant and child development including isolationLO2 Understand theories of social and emotional developmentLO3 Understand how attachments and relationships impact on brain development in infants and young childrenLO4 Understand the role of parents, carers and professionals in promoting social and emotional development in infants and young childrenLO5 Understand trauma and what ACEs are and how they impact on infant mental healthLO6 Understand the Early Intervention programmes that promote social and emotional development in infants and young children

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements, this qualification will build on the knowledge attained through OCN Level 1 Award in Infant Mental Health and OCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Infant Mental Health and its Impact on Development in Children

Additional Information

This course is targeted at parents and professionals working with children and young people. Students will explore brain development, key physical care needs and support infants social and emotional development. This course builds on the skills acquired in the Level 2 Award in Understanding Infant Mental Health and its impact on Development in Children and will provide sound understanding of the importance of connecting infant mental health to lifelong development.
