Course Overview

The Level 2 Traineeship will enable you to achieve a qualification which is comparable to 4 GCSEs. The practical nature of the course will introduce an innovative creative industries sector and a range of available careers. It gives you an insight into the media industry with a view to further study at Level 3 or HE. This course will introduce learners to what is needed to succeed in a range of media career pathways including moving image, Film & TV, animation, photography, graphics and digital media. Students will be introduced to technical skills, such as camera operation, editing, sound recording, and graphic design, while also developing their understanding of media theory and production processes including completion of projects and assignments that demonstrate technical, creative and transversal skills.Some areas of study explored during the Level 2 Traineeship;-Understanding the media industry Video production -Web Design-Sound and radio production -Advertising and advertising techniques -Digital publishing -Photographic techniques

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

4 GCSEs Grades D-G to include Maths at Grade D and English Grade E.

ROI Requirements

4 OLCs Grades O5 - O8 to include Maths at Grade O5 and English Grade O6

Work Placement

60 hours of placement or simulated placement to be carried out over the year either in blocks throughout the year or a small number of hours per week.

This Level 2 Traineeship Diploma takes you through a variety of units that provide the basic foundation needed to help you progress learning to the next stage: potential to progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production or Level 3 in Games, Animation & VFX. In addition, the qualification will allow you to choose your progression route from a wide range of other Level 3 Diploma courses at NWRC depending on the results obtained from the Vocational Qualification, Essential Skills Qualifications and T Skill qualifications. Further progression opportunities after Level 3 include a variety of Level 5 HND courses in Creative Media, Digital Design and Journalism.

Career Prospects

The qualification can introduce a wide range of career pathways including job roles as filmmakers, video editors, content creators, journalists, radio broadcasters, social media managers or digital marketing executives.
