Course Overview

The Higher National Diploma (16 unit value) is a combination of eight Level 4 units and seven Level 5 units (one of which is a double unit). The course is delivered over 3 years (part-time). Year 1 consists of five level 4 units. Year 2 consists of three Level 4 units plus two Level 5 units. Year 3 consists of five Level 5 units (one of which is a double unit). In Years 1 & 2, students attend for a full day release (including the evening) to accommodate five units each year. In Year 3 attendance is for a full day release plus another evening to accommodate the equivalence of six units.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

48 UCAS points to include one pass in related discipline and GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or equivalent OR Relevant Access course with an overall mark of at least 41%, including passes in Mathematics and a Science subject. APEL applicable

Further Study

Successful completion of the Higher National Diploma with appropriate grades may enable progression to Year 2 BEng (Hons) degree pathway of related degree at Ulster University or similar degrees at other universities.
