Course Overview

The Level 2 Award in Computerised Payroll for Business qualification aims to provide learners with a comprehensive range of knowledge and the practical skills that they will be able to use as a payroll processor for a variety of businesses. Successful candidates of this course will: • Understand the principles of legislation relating to the processing of the Payroll• Understand the information required to prepare an employee payroll record• Understand the additional elements that constitute gross pay• Understand the principles of statutory additions to, and deductions from pay• Understand the principles of PAYE and NIC legislation and other statutory obligations when processing the payroll• Understand the principles of repaying Student Loans through the payroll• Understand the procedures to adopt when dealing with a leaver• Understand the requirements for processing and submitting payroll information• Understand the need to complete period end procedures within given timescales• Be able to set up and maintain company, pension and employee records using commercially available computerised payroll software• Be able to process payroll accurately for a variety of pay periods using organisational procedures and timescales• Be able to produce statutory and non-statutory reports• Be able to back-up and restore data when requiredTo gain the IAB Level 2 Award in Payroll for Business learners will be required to complete the following assessments: Knowledge Test on the Principles of employment legislation and payroll processing Synoptic End Exam on Computerised Payroll Processing The Level 2 Award in Payroll for Business qualification is specifically aimed at learners who wish to further their studies of payroll and gain a qualification at Level 2 of the regulated qualification framework either from a point of some previous knowledge, or having already achieved the IAB Level 1 Award in Payroll (computerised) in Business. The qualification will appeal to those learners who already have the practical knowledge and skills and wish to gain an accredited qualification in the subject of payroll.

UK Requirements

It is essential that students enrolling for this course have achieved the IAB Level 1 Award in Payroll (Computerised) for Business using Sage Computerised Payroll Software or be competent in the functions required to achieve the IAB Level 1 course.

Additional Information

Learners must pay an additional annual membership fee of £50.00 directly to IAB to be able to undertake their online test & assignments for this qualification. This fee is not included in the course fees. This annual membership will also cover the costs for online assignments or tests taken by the learner for any other IAB qualifications within the year.
