We were delighted to meet former student Clare Anderson when she called into Open Day at Limavady campus with her daughter.

Clare’s journey from a young student at NWRC Limavady to becoming the Head of Learning and Development for a nursing company is a fantastic example of how adaptability, and the right support can lead to success.

Clare who left school with just two GCSEs started her career journey started at NWRC Limavady where she studied catering alongside food service.

She said: “I'd urge any school leavers to visit NWRC before trying to flee the nest to other countries or cities. NWRC has so many courses and different opportunities to offer and it's right on our doorstep. I am so pleased to see how far this college has come from when I was only 16 years old walking through the gates, it's an amazing college with so many great courses and opportunities.

“I was very nervous at 16 years old leaving school with only 2 GCSEs but after a chat with a careers advisor at the NWRC I felt confident that I could get a job, it's what you put in that matters, there's options out there, and lucky for us they are under the one roof.

“I left college and went straight into employment working my way up the ladder into management.

“At 33 I changed my career paths completely and studied medical, with adult learning it and I am now head of learning and development for a nursing company based in Belfast. So, it goes to show we can change our career paths over and over if we want to.

“My daughter will also be attending NWRC this year and I am fully confident that she will receive the best of the best training and development for her future.”
