Students currently studying STEM courses at North West Regional College are being encouraged to make an application to the annual SSE Airtricity scholarship programme.
SSE Airtricity recently announced that NWRC is now a third level education partner with the SSE Airtricity scholarship programme and has increased its third level education funding available for young people living close to its wind farms in Tyrone, Derry and Fermanagh.
Students at NWRC can apply for a scholarship, which provides 50 per cent funding support towards the cost of third level fees for students commencing first year studies in stem-associated subjects at partner colleges.
Danny Laverty, Head of Science, Technology and Creative Technologies at North West Regional College, said:
“We are delighted that from this year students attending North West Regional College for the first time can now apply to The SSE Airtricity Scholarship. We believe passionately that as many students as possible should have access to third level education, and the funding support made available to our students from SSE Airtricity through its Scholarship programme will have a hugely positive impact on the lives of young people in the North West.”
Over the last four years, the SSE scholarship has provided more than £350,000 to 100 third-level students attending Ulster University and South West College. Now, in its fifth year, applications are also being accepted from an expanded catchment area, and additional courses on offer from North West Regional College.
Applications are now open. But hurry, the closing date is Friday 16 November 2018.

Foundation Degree in Architectural Technology
Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering with Surveying
Foundation Degree in Civil Engineering
Foundation Degree in Information Technologies
Foundation Degree in Software Development
Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Foundation Degree in Mechanical Engineering
HND in Digital Design
HND in Creative Media Production
Foundation Degree in Medical and Applied Science
Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
