Staff and students from North West Regional College have hosted another successful Health and Social Care Competition, in which they competed against students from across Northern Ireland.
Students at Level 2 and 3 went head to head in the competition where they were asked to demonstrate their professional and technical skills for the Health & Social Care Sector such as the recovery position, peak flow and good hand washing.
Winners came from three regional colleges- NWRC Limavady, Strabane and Strand Rd campus, North Regional College, Coleraine and Belfast Metropolitan College.
Kim Boyle, Curriculum Manager Health and Social Care at NWRC Strand Road said: “We are delighted to have hosted this competition for the third occasion.
“All of the students who took part in the event enjoyed it immensely.
“Participation in competitions undoubtedly raises standards in teaching and motivates learners to be ambitious in the pursuit of high level technical and employability skills. “Students also enjoy the event which enables them to learn about team work, time management and the ability to work under pressure. The competition also enables staff to benchmark and work collaboratively and share good practice with other regional colleges & it keeps the skills profile high.” NWRC was delighted to welcome visiting lecturers Dr. Allana Patterson, Curriculum Area Manage, Belfast Metropolitan and Mrs. Catherine Pegram, Lecturer, NRC Coleraine Campus.
