Applications welcome from Leaving Cert students

Donegal students receiving their Leaving Cert Results are being encouraged to log on to North West Regional College’s Course Information event this Friday (September 3), from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The college, which has five campuses in the North West, is still accepting applications for courses beginning this month. Students receiving Leaving Cert results can log on to www.nwrc.ac.uk/results to confirm their place or apply for a course at NWRC.

NWRC has always welcomed large numbers of students from Donegal, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the Health Sector, Business, Music, and much more.

Most recently Katie Durey from Inishowen, who studied the BTEC Level 3 in Health Science at NWRC, was accepted as one of the first ever students to study Northern Ireland’s first ever Degree in Paramedic Science at Ulster University.

Moville born Oran McGonagle studied Business with NWRC and now runs five bars and restaurants in Boston, USA, where he has also opened his own Irish bar ‘The Cottage’ in Weymouth, along with friends.

And Ethan Kelly from Donegal was named NI Creative & Cultural Skills Student of the Year during his time studying the HND Music Production course at NWRC.

NWRC offers a huge range of courses open to students aged 16 and over, from Level 1 to Level 6, in Further and Higher Education.

Students can enrol at NWRC in a range of subject areas which include Art and Design, Business, Care and Health, I.T., Hospitality and Catering, Media, Science, Sport, Music, Performing Arts. Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Early Years, Construction and the Built Environment, Engineering, Administration and Travel and Tourism.

In addition, the apprenticeship route is becoming more attractive for young people. As an apprentice, young people gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage, combining practical ‘hands-on’ experience with academic knowledge. Apprentices typically work four days a week and are released by their employer one day a week to attend College.

For students who have already completed their A-Levels, Leaving Cert, or Level 3 course, NWRC offers a huge range of Higher Education courses including Foundation Degrees, Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas and Higher Level Apprenticeships.

There are many reasons why students choose NWRC in Derry~Londonderry, Limavady and Strabane. NWRC is the perfect place for students to acquire practical qualifications that equip them for university or employment.

Many students this summer are celebrating having achieved the top results in the Level 3 Extended Diplomas – triple star distinctions. Others are thrilled to have been accepted to the 2nd or final year of Honours degree programmes having successfully completed their HNDs and Foundation Degrees at NWRC

The College is proud of its modern facilities, expert staff and the quality of teaching that is delivered. But it is most proud of its students who take full advantage of the opportunities provided to them.

Start with North West Regional College this September and let your learning experience take you anywhere. Call 028 7127 6000 or visit www.nwrc.ac.uk/results for more details.
