Joshua Miller

Course: HNC in Performing Arts

Meet Joshua, a Performing Arts student at Strand Road campus who recently won the starring role of Jesus in NWRC's production of 'Superstar Live'. Fun fact - Joshua is also the lead guitarist for the band Saleo from Omagh.

I love performing and being on the stage so I’m looking forward to a future career in that field. There's nothing like being in front of a live audience.

What was the commute to College like?

I was driving from Omagh every day which took between 50 minutes and an hour depending on traffic. There were times that driving was challenging but most of the time I enjoyed it because it was a quality hour that I spent listening to my favourite music.

I also had to get used to waking up very early in the mornings – I was late for class a few times but I tried to avoid it! The commute was worth it because I heard so many good things about the course, before I came to NWRC.

I completed A-Levels in Music, Spanish, Politics and Drama. I was not focused at school, but college life really brought the best out of me.

What was the highlight of your year?

I played the part of Jesus in the College’s 2024 production of Superstar Live. I had the right physical look for the role with my long hair and beard. The audition was intense, but I had a feeling I got the part. It was such a brilliant experience performing in front of a live audience!

I really enjoyed my time at the College and it helped me make the decision to move to London where I’m now studying Musical Theatre at Trinity, Labian Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

What are your future plans?

At the moment I’m just enjoying my time in London, and all the experiences that come with that. I love performing and being on the stage so I’m looking forward to a future career in that field.
